Billy Sunday:  The Baseball Evangelist by Craig A. Bishop

Born in Story County, IA in 1862, William Ashley “Billy” Sunday was an American outfielder in baseball’s National League for the Chicago White Stockings and widely considered the most influential American evangelist during the first two decades of the 20th century.
In 1891 he gave up baseball to become a YMCA worker but turned in 1896 to conducting religious revivals in major American cities. Ordained a Presbyterian minister in 1903, Sunday was theologically a Fundamentalist.
