Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

Gibson Memorial Library has partnered with our Friends of the Library to offer access to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library for children in Union County! This program mails a FREE high-quality, age appropriate book to registered children each month from birth to their fifth birthday.

To register, caregivers must fill out and submit a registration form for their eligible children. First books will arrive 8-10 weeks after registration, and children will graduate from the program the month of their fifth birthday with a personalized copy of Kindergarten, Here I Come!

Caregivers may register their children at the library or by filling out and mailing in the form linked below.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten®

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library pairs perfectly with another library initiative: 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten!  (1,000 Books Before Kindergarten® is a registered trademark of the 1,000 Books Foundation, used with permission).

Caregivers are encouraged to register their little ones for this free, self-paced program at any time before they enter kindergarten!

Program Overview

This is a free, nationwide program designed to promote early literacy, help families form bonds with their little ones through reading, and build lifelong relationships with reading. Any child can participate from birth to kindergarten!

It may sound daunting to read 1,000 books in about 5 years, but if you read just one book a night it will take three years. If you read three books a day, it will take less than a year!

To register, simply ask at the circulation desk to sign up. Children will receive stickers at each milestone of 100 books as well as prize books at 500 and 1,000 books.
